The estate was established in 1994 to grow both grapes and olives, and now covers 920 hectares of which 150 are planted to vines. The property is located at a height of 1000m in western Argentina in the Sierra Famatina, a range of mountains that leads down from the Andes and itself goes up to 6200m. Water is scarce and the estate served by its own wells.
The winery is new, all stainless steel, air conditioned and has its own bottling facilities as well as a barrel store for ageing the best wines in oak.
This Reserva won the Trophy for the best Bonarda at the Wines of Argentina awards in 2008, and is on the “Shortlist” for the Sommelier Wine Awards from 2009.
Big rich chunky beast from a grape originally from Italy normally used in blends. This is meaty with blackberry fruit, notes of violets and smokey oak from barrel ageing.
