The Kaiken Project began in 2001, when Aurelio Montes - President of Montes and chief winemaker began working very closely with some of the best winegrowers in different parts of Mendoza. Aurelio Montes crossed the Andes from Chile to argentina to discover new Terroirs because he firmly believed that the area had tremendous potential to discover high quality grapes.
The 2006 Ultra Malbec was aged for 12 months in French oak. The oak influence overlays the attractive perfume which also has notes of violets, black cherry and a hint of chocolate. The fruit is mouth-filling and has good depth and the firm finish lasts for more than 45 seconds. This is a structured wine that will benefit from 2-3 years of additional bottle age. (91 Points RP)
